The UATX store is the University’s authorized outlet for making University-branded merchandise available to the public. By purchasing items from the store, you’re supporting our work to build a university dedicated to the fearless pursuit of truth. This Privacy Policy applies to information that we collect about you when you make a purchase from the store.

We only collect information about you if we have a reason to do so—for example, in order fulfill merchandise orders or to communicate with you.

It’s probably no surprise that we collect information that you provide to us. Here are some examples:

• Payment and contact information: If you buy something from us, you’ll provide personal and payment information like your name, credit card information, and contact information.
• Log information: Like most online service providers, we collect information that web browsers, mobile devices, and servers typically make available, including the browser type, IP address, unique device identifiers, language preference, referring site, the date and time of access, operating system, and mobile network information. We collect log information when you enter and use the UATX website, including the store.
• Information from cookies & other technologies: The UATX website, including the store, uses cookies and pixel tags. A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. Pixel tags (also called web beacons) are small blocks of code placed on websites and emails.

How and Why We Use Information

• We keep a record of the purchases you’ve made, but our payment servicer Stripe does not reveal your full credit card information to us nor allow us to make recurring charges on purchases you make through the store.
• We keep a record of your contact information, including name and email address, for research purposes in order to understand who may be interested in UATX. We never sell or share this information with advertisers, partners, or anyone outside of the UATX organization.
• The UATX store, as with the broader UATX website under the domain uaustin.org, uses cookies and pixel tags to help us identify and track visitors and usage, as well as track and understand email campaign effectiveness and to deliver targeted ads.
