Timothy Brennan is Associate Professor of Political Philosophy at the University of Austin. His research focuses on modern political theory and American political thought, with particular attention to eighteenth-century thinkers, including Montesquieu, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin. He has published articles in Political Theory, The Journal of Politics, The Review of Politics, History of Political Thought, and a number of other journals. Before coming to the University of Austin, he taught at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Virginia.
