Raymond Leschber

Class of 2029

Why did you choose UATX?

I chose UATX because of its promise to grow the soul through liberal education. I stayed because it delivered.

What has been your favorite class?

My favorite class has been “Political Theology” taught by Dean Patrick Gray. The study abroad setting in Budapest combined with the pertinent question of whether the liberal governing theory is conducive to human flourishing, created an unforgettable foray into political philosophy.

Has anything surprised you about your experience?

My fellow students have been the source of repeated surprises for me during my time at UATX. Never have I encountered a group of more driven, intelligent, mature, and overall authentic human beings. It is the relationships with my classmates that I find the most rewarding.

What kind of internships are you doing / have you done?

I am participating in a Journalism Summer Program in Mexico City that was wholly created by students and funded by the University. It is a five week program, with the first week being intensive Spanish language classes and the final week being on-the-ground journalism work across Mexico.

What's your favorite thing about Austin?

I appreciate how health conscious the population of Austin is. There are so many healthy food options and opportunities to stay active around the city. Austin just feels young.
