After my first visit to UATX, I was struck by the quality of the students it attracts. The friends I made there were both brilliant and genuinely good people, and that’s what made the decision for me.
My favorite was a class this winter called Knowing, Making, Doing: Wisdom, where we read the Bible, Plato, and Aristotle on what it means to be wise. Beyond how insightful they were, it’s a class I keep coming back to when I make important decisions, personal and public.
As someone who mostly skated by in high school, I was shocked by how much work UATX expected of me. I spent my whole first term just learning how to work hard, and while I’m not perfect at it, I’m a lot better than I was.
I’ve worked for a tech startup in Austin that builds executive event software, and for an early-stage VC firm based in LA.
There’s always something going on. A great concert every other week, fifty restaurants I still need to try. Between UATX, work, and the city, I never have time to be bored.
