Class of 2028

Favorite Class: Dante; Supreme Court History; Pathocracy

Phoenix, AZ

Why did you choose UATX?

I chose UATX… because I knew I would get a personalized education and opportunities tailored particularly to me and my success in a way I couldn’t get anywhere else.

What has been your favorite class?

My favorite classes have been the Dante trilogy, Supreme Court History, and Pathocracy. The Dante trilogy (Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso) was fascinating to me because I had never dedicated my study to a singular book at a time in this way. The material itself was incredibly thought-rich and imaginative. Being such a revered poem five centuries later, yet still so relevant to humans’ discussion of the afterlife, the Comedy was one of my favorite things to read and dissect in seminar at UATX.

Supreme Court History was taught by Judges Evan Young and Andy Oldham, two of the wisest and awe-inspiring professors I have had thus far. The class covered in rich detail the history of the Supreme Court’s workings, influential figures, and landmark cases. Learning how the court came to be what it is today is something that every American citizen should know, but very few do (and I am very grateful to now know at least to some extent).

Pathocracy was an exciting course that tied together a lot of the political theory and philosophy we read at UATX with the hot issues of today. Taught by Michael Shellenberger, I loved how provocative and detailed this class was.

Has anything surprised you about your experience?

I think the best part about the small community is how “at home” it feels at UATX. Practically everyone is familiar with everyone and that can be a nice feeling. It definitely makes seminars and campus more friendly and enables a greater depth of connection at school.

What do you plan to do after you graduate?

I plan to attend law school.

What kind of internships are you doing / have you done?

I am interning at the Texas Office of the Attorney General and have previously interned at multiple private practice law firms.

What's your favorite thing about Austin?

My favorite thing about Austin is the liveliness! It is a great city to be in as a young person: so many outdoor activities, music, and great coffee shops!
