Dr. David Ruth is Provost at the University of Austin, having also served as founding Dean of STEM. Previously, he was a US Navy Captain and Permanent Military Professor at the US Naval Academy, where he was an award-winning teacher 2009-2022. Dr. Ruth has authored  several statistics articles and a book chapter on mathematics in cybersecurity. Prior to academia, he served aboard submarines, aircraft carriers, and as an operational planner overseas. He earned a PhD in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School and holds graduate degrees in Mathematics, Meteorology and Physical Oceanography, and National Security and Strategic Studies.
